Containing facts, figures and a whole bunch of nothing...
What I've been up to this past week.
Published on February 18, 2004 By Dark-Star In Work Reports
This past week has been a busy one. Now that Pat has come up with this crazy new system of writing all projects and ideas on the white board, it's been a lot easier to see what work has to be done. Actually, it's a good system and it seems to be working nicely. Anyway, here is a list of the items completed, or at least completed on the test system ready for final testing. Each item should be ready to be placed on the Production Server after Thursday.

--JoeUser. Give detailed messages on Logon Failed.

--Added Comment Control feature to JoeUser Article Posting/Editing. Now the user can control who can reply to there post.
--Added WYSIWYG Editor to JoeUser Article Post & and Edit Pages
--Added Quoting to JoeUser ArticleComments page.

--Currently working on Adding an option to the 'My Account' section to allow the user the option to use a "Auto-Watchlist" in that the user, when posting new articles will automatically add each new article that they create in to there Watchlist.

That's all for now. Enjoy!

It's good to see that you never stop improving;)
However I have a little favour to ask you. Would you consider creating a new category call nonenglish post and a sub category for french. I think that it will be usefull due to teh increasing number of frenchspeakers here. I have also notice some german and spanish post,so they might be interrested too.

Thank to consider my request

Maybe rather than doing this, you could provide an additional flag that can be set when writing a blog: Language.

This would obviously default to English for the majority of users, but then users could maybe search based on language. This way, users could find posts in their own language but they could also be kept in the proper sections.

It may also be worth considering allowing users to filter which posts they can see based on language. It would make no sense for me to be distracted by Spanish postings when there's no chance I could understand them.

Just a thought.

I had exactly the same thought after leaving this post. I don't know if the policy of JoeUser is to stay purely english written or if it's willing to accept differnt language.

It is my belief that there is no policy that JoeUser should remain purely English focussed. There are really no constraints on content apart from basic standards of morality and decency. As such, JoeUser should accomodate other languages. The only reason that this may not necessarily be the current case is that JoeUser is new, and hasn't had a request like yours.

Personally I believe that giving Joe User an International focus could make it into THE blogging site.

Wow, these are really good points. I will pass this along. I don't see this as being a limitation since really JoeUser is whatever the populace requires it to be. We want JoeUser to be successful and I'm certain as demand has it, will change to fit the needs of them. Great ideas guys! Man, it's amazing how developed a product can become when it is critiqued like it is from outside users. Rock on!

Thank dark Star

If you are interrested in the multilingual, you could first try the sub category, I was suggersting, so you could check if there any need for that. And after you could do something in the way Martin described it.
If you manage that I think Joeuser would become quiet a reference.

I've discussed this issue with Pat and this has caused some other ideas to surface. Thanks guys for the ideas! We really really appreciate it! Keep them coming. We are considering the language options and they may just appear on the site soon. We'll be discussing this further soon. We've got to finish up some other stuff today before we unveil our changes this afternoon.

Thanks JEPEL & _Martin_

I have another questions:
What happened to the group blogs? Have you deceide to get ride of it?

Thanks

"Group Blogs" or "Blog Groups"? We still have Blog Groups we just don't show top blog groups on the link bar because they don't seem to be as popular as we would have liked and the top spots seem to never move. Thinks will be changing for items like that though.

We were going to be doing some major updated today to the production server from our test server however out test server crashed and was getting "blue screens" on startup so we opted to move our stuff over to a new test box. Grrrrr.. This is delaying us, but it looks like we should have some/all stuff updated sometime later today.
